Once Upon A Time In Harlem

December 10, 2026, 6:00 PM

The Urban Civil Rights Museum in Harlem will present a special screening of Once Upon a Time in Harlem, with filmmaker David Greaves and producer Anne de Mare as special guests. The film explores the cultural, intellectual, and political conversations of legendary Black artists who rose to prominence during the Harlem Renaissance. Through literature, theater, music, visual art, and public discourse, the Harlem Renaissance empowered Black artists and thinkers to reclaim their narratives and challenge systems of racism and prejudice. Following the 80-minute screening, audiences will have the opportunity to engage in a conversation with David and Anne about the film’s themes and historical significance. The evening will conclude with a reception featuring light refreshments.

This program is free. Advanced registration is required.

The Museum closes at 5:00 PM and reopens for program guests at 5:45 PM. Daytime admission tickets do not allow earlier entry to the program. Seating is first-come, first-served. Galleries will not be open during this event.
